Curiosity:
The origin of the Easter Colomba is linked to many legends, one of these, from the 6th century, tells that, during the siege of Pavia, King Alboin was offered a sweet in the shape of a dove by an old merchant as a sign of peace.
Another legend dates back to the time of Federico Barbarossa and the League of Lombard Municipalities. A leader, seeing two doves landing on the Lombard banners during the battle, decided to instill the noble spirit of those birds in his men by having bread made in the shape of a dove.
There are also several variations to the original recipe, among which Sciara offers the exquisite version of the Sicilian Colomba with Pistachio .

Ingredients

Colomba (net weight 750 g):
WHEAT flour (GLUTEN), BUTTER (MILK), sugar, EGG yolk, natural YEAST (WHEAT), emulsifier (mono- and di-glycerides of fatty acids), honey, skimmed MILK powder, salt, natural vanilla flavoring .
Coating: white chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, whole MILK powder, emulsifier: SOY lecithin), PISTACHIO grains 2%.
Pistachio Origin: EU/non-EU according to seasonal availability (the product will have the current information on the label).

Cream (net weight 190 g):
White cream [sugar, vegetable oils and fats (sunflower oil, fats: palm, palm kernel), skimmed MILK powder (10%), whey powder, emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), flavoring (vanillin)], PISTACHIO 30%.

Method of use

To serve the Colomba al Pistacchio Sciara, the ideal is to arrange it on a footed cake stand, so as to make it more spectacular and easier to cut.
To make the Pistachio Colomba truly irresistible, heat it slightly before serving, you will be conquered by the texture and fragrance that will be released!
Cut the Colomba al Pistacchio Sciara using a long knife with a serrated blade, then move the slices with a cake shovel.
We also recommend serving the Colomba al Pistachio Sciara on a plate, laying the slice down and sprinkling it with the Pistachio Cream.

L'abilità  dei nostri esperti di produzione è quella di selezionare le migliori tipologie di Pistacchi presenti sul mercato nelle diverse stagioni dell'anno e realizzare la miscela di Pistacchi più idonea per le nostre diverse lavorazioni, con l'obiettivo di mantenere sempre un elevato standard qualitativo, riuscendo allo stesso tempo a garantire il più possibile un livello costante dei costi e quindi dei prezzi al pubblico. Non tutto il Pistacchio che lavoriamo, infatti, è di Bronte, perché è proprio impossibile che lo sia!

Il Pistacchio di Bronte, appunto, si raccoglie solo ogni 2 anni e, nonostante una produzione di circa 34.000 quintali, non può soddisfare la richiesta globale di prodotto, oltre ad avere una notevolissima oscillazione di prezzo tra l'anno di raccolta (tipicamente negli anni dispari) e quello di ferma.
